A Human-Shaped Hackathon
Every person builds one real app of their own, for people they can name, and what you learn is what counts.
The day
| 9:30 | Doors and setup |
|---|---|
| 10:00 | The opening |
| 10:15 | Write: three ideas, then one; why it exists, who it is for, and the line it will never cross |
| 11:00 | Read it to two people |
| 11:15 | The first build |
| 12:00 | Look back in threes |
| 12:15 | Lunch |
| 1:00 | The second build |
| 2:00 | Show it to your three, with the agent closed |
| 2:20 | A break |
| 2:30 | The last build, and fill in your card |
| 3:30 | The show-and-tell |
| 4:15 | The closing circle |
The half day
| 1:00 | The opening |
|---|---|
| 1:15 | Write |
| 1:45 | The first build |
| 2:30 | Look back in threes |
| 2:40 | A break |
| 2:50 | The last build |
| 3:50 | The show-and-tell |
| 4:40 | The closing circle |
At the show-and-tell
Three minutes each: who it is for, one real thing it does, and one decision your values changed. One question from the room, at most.
When you are stuck
Put the stuck color on your laptop lid, and a helper will come to you.
The four questions, for everything you build
Does it deepen understanding? Does it invite participation? Does it support human agency? Is it clear rather than clever?
How we treat one another
Let people finish their thought, nobody acts surprised that someone has not heard of something, and nobody takes over someone else's keyboard, even to help. If something lands badly, say so kindly and keep going.
